1. Introduction

The yield strength of 2205 duplex stainless steel is more than twice that of ordinary austenitic stainless steel. This property allows designers to reduce weight when designing products, giving this alloy a price advantage over 316,317 L. This alloy is particularly suitable for temperatures in the -50°F/+600°F range. The alloy may also be considered for applications beyond this temperature range, but with some limitations, especially when applied to welded structures.
